Dhaka's Biryani Price Index 2026

Biryani is Dhaka's benchmark dish. Every neighbourhood has an opinion about whose kacchi is worth the queue, and every family has a ceiling on what a good plate should cost. We pulled the biryani and kacchi line items from the menus foodee has catalogued so far and built a first price index.
Across the menus we've processed, a kacchi plate typically lands between ৳250 and ৳450 at everyday restaurants, while premium spots push past ৳600. The spread inside a single neighbourhood is wide — Dhanmondi alone shows plates from under ৳300 to over ৳700.
What moves the price? Mutton over chicken adds ৳100–200 almost everywhere. Restaurants with seating and air conditioning cluster above the street-level stalls, but the cheapest highly-rated plates often come from the no-frills counters.
